This listing is for the photographed acrylic painting on stretched canvas. It is approx. 5 inches by 7 inches and is of a very detailed canvas full of different layers that build up this scenery. I began with painting the "background" or base colour down, and then added tons of individual pebbles into the scene - then came the two koi fish. Both koi received multiple layers to build up their designs, as well as to strengthen the glow in the dark effect. Next came the lily pads, in which I used air dry whipped clay to build up the depth to each lily pad, then let them dry. Once dried, they got painted, dried some more, and then I added on some more air dry whipped clay to create the lotus flowers on the lily pads. Doing it this way allowed me the ability to build up textures and details that pop off the canvas, while maintaining a large amount of control over the process; us artists know all too well that some mediums can be more unpredictable than others, and I found that the whipped clay is incredibly easy to work with, keeps it shape, doesn't shrink, and takes paint wonderfully! I finally finished the flowers with their paint details as well, and lastly went in to add the ripples around each lily pad and provide just a little more depth into this wonderful little koi pond world. This piece took over ten hours to complete, and that's not including the dry times between layers! The whole piece is sealed with a clear coat of varnish to protect it.
 
It has my signature, "S.Sweeney" plus the date of completion listed on the piece for authentication, although I am in the works of procuring additional documentation for "certification of authenticaty" pages to include with each piece from inside my studios.
